Amazing Artists Remind Us of the Power of the Imagination

Remember How Awesome Your Imagination Was as a Child?

Each of us was a brilliant artist, and we didn’t even know it. You didn’t have to draw within the lines, dogs could have 16 legs if you wanted to, and when it came to imagining the monsters in your mind, your brain really let loose. No rules!

The Monster Project capitalizes on the incredible elasticity of the creative minds of children by having artists recreate images that kids have created and then putting their ideas through their own developed artistic filters. The results are incredible — you get the creative ideation from the children and a graduated aesthetic form from the artists. After the new work of art is created the new creation is given back to its creator, teaching them how valuable their creative thinking truly is.

“Then, when we deliver these new interpretations back to the students in person, we are able to demonstrate new art techniques within their original creative context,” wrote the project website.“They are able to see what their idea sparked in others.”

For a monster that could easily destroy the plane, this guy looks pretty happy.

Actually Terrifying

What started as a scary teddy bear has totally evolved into something from a horror movie…

Light at the End

I chose this one because of how beautiful it is, and also because of how I think each of these renditions must be like a light in the world for the kids who made the original drawings.
